First and foremost, Total Growth encompasses all aspects of a
child: educational, spiritual, emotional, and developmental. These
are the elements that dictate how our children develop into bnei
and bnos Torah.
By instilling the values of being a Torah Jew and mensch
in our students, we can take pride in the way our children learn,
daven, and conduct themselves in the yeshiva, at home, and in the
community at large.
YBH curricula encompass Torah knowledge, knowledge of General Studies,
menshlichkeit, yiras shamayim, hislahavus in
learning, and respect
for others. Our educational programs emphasize Torah centrality and
embrace the precept of Chanoch L'naar al Pi Darko, the obligation of
parents and mechanchim to raise each child according to his or
her
own educational and emotional needs.
The Methodology:
-
Average child/teacher ratio of 16:1
-
Individual student goals set early and monitored throughout
the year
-
Classroom assistants in each class from Grades Pre1A - 4
-
Resource room administered by specially trained resource
director and several staff members
-
Uniforms and separate programs for boys and girls beginning in
first grade
The Results:
-
Rabbeim, Moros, teachers, and administration really
know
the students
-
With goals in place and ongoing monitoring, YBH can identify student
needs for additional help or enrichment
-
Extra "eyes", "ears", and "hands" in each classroom allows YBH to cater
to individual and collective needs
-
Specialized student needs addressed by trained professionals
-
Establishes non-competitive standards and customized classroom learning
A Closer Look:
One way individual emotional needs are addressed while
engaging the class in a collective mitzvah is via a
class Bikur Cholim call to wish a sick classmate well.
Following a student's absence of two days or more, teachers
routinely make a personal Bikur Cholim call.
